Welcome to Fairies. By using this website or our services, you agree to these terms. Please read them — they're written in plain English because we believe you deserve to understand what you're agreeing to.

What Fairies Is

Fairies is a peer-to-peer dress lending platform based in Boston, Massachusetts. We connect people who want to rent clothing (Renters) with people who want to lend their clothing (Lenders). Fairies acts as the intermediary — handling all logistics, delivery, collection, and payment processing.

Fairies is not a retail store. We do not own the clothing listed on the platform. All pieces belong to individual Lenders.

For Renters

Booking & Payment

All rentals must be booked in advance through the Fairies platform or by contacting us directly.
Payment is required to confirm your booking. Until payment is received, your booking is not guaranteed.
Prices are set by individual Lenders and displayed on each listing.
A delivery fee may apply depending on your location. This will be communicated before you confirm.

Delivery & Collection

We deliver to your door the day before or the morning of your event date.
We collect from your door the day after your event date.
You must be available or arrange for someone to receive and return the item.
If collection is missed, a $20 per day late fee applies until the item is collected.

Cancellations

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before delivery receive a full refund.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of delivery are non-refundable.
If Fairies cancels your booking for any reason, you will receive a full refund.

For Lenders

Listing Your Pieces

By listing a piece on Fairies you confirm that you own it and have the right to lend it.
All items must be clean, in good condition, and accurately described.
Fairies reserves the right to decline or remove any listing at our discretion.
You agree to make your piece available on the dates confirmed at booking.

Earnings

You earn a percentage of each rental fee. Your exact split will be agreed with Fairies before your listing goes live.
Earnings are paid out after each successful rental is completed.
Fairies retains a service fee from each transaction to cover delivery, platform costs, and operations.

General

Fairies operates in Boston, Massachusetts. By using our services you agree to these terms. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time — continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any changes.

This rental agreement is entered into between Fairies Dress Lending ("Fairies") and the individual making a rental booking ("Renter"). By confirming a booking with Fairies, the Renter agrees to all terms below.

Plain English summary: You're borrowing someone's clothing. Treat it like it's not yours — because it isn't. Return it on time, in the same condition you received it. If something goes wrong, you're responsible.

The Rental

Fairies will deliver the agreed clothing item(s) to the Renter's specified address on the delivery date. The Renter agrees to return the item(s) when collected by Fairies on the collection date.

Delivery date: The day before the Renter's event date
Collection date: The day after the Renter's event date
The rental period covers delivery through collection only

Renter Responsibilities

The Renter agrees to use the item(s) for personal use only — not for resale, subletting, or commercial use.
The Renter agrees not to alter, modify, or permanently change the item(s) in any way.
The Renter agrees to store the item(s) safely and keep them away from risk of damage.
The Renter agrees to be available for collection on the agreed collection date.
The Renter agrees to return the item(s) in the same condition as received, accounting for normal wear.

Late Returns

If the item is not ready for collection on the agreed collection date, a late fee of $20 per day will be charged to the Renter until the item is collected. This fee is non-negotiable.

Damage & Loss

The Renter is fully responsible for any damage to or loss of the item(s) during the rental period. See our full Damage Policy for details on how damage is assessed and charged.

By confirming a booking, the Renter agrees to pay the full replacement value of the item(s) in the event of damage beyond normal wear, staining, or loss.

Agreement

By completing a booking with Fairies — whether through the website form, message, or any other means — the Renter confirms they have read, understood, and agreed to this rental agreement in full.

We handle every piece with care. We expect Renters to do the same. This policy exists to protect Lenders — the real people whose clothing you're borrowing.

What Counts as Damage

Stains — any staining that cannot be removed by standard dry cleaning
Tears or rips — any tearing of fabric, seams, or embellishments
Stretching or distortion — any permanent change to the shape or fit of the item
Burns or scorch marks
Missing components — buttons, belts, embellishments, or accessories that are part of the listing
Loss — failure to return the item at all

What Does NOT Count as Damage

Minor creasing or wrinkling from wear
Light scent from normal wear (we steam all items before relisting)
Pre-existing condition documented before the rental

How Damage is Assessed

Every item is inspected by Fairies before delivery and again upon collection. We photograph all items before dispatch as a record of their condition.

If damage is identified on collection, the Renter will be notified within 24 hours with photographic evidence.

Damage Charges

Minor damage (stains removable by dry cleaning, minor repairs): cost of professional cleaning or repair, minimum $30

Major damage (irreparable tears, permanent staining, severe distortion): full replacement value of the item as listed by the Lender

Loss (item not returned): full replacement value plus a $50 administrative fee

Fairies retains its service fee regardless of damage outcome. The remaining charge goes directly to the Lender.

Disputes

If a Renter disputes a damage assessment, they may contact Fairies within 48 hours of being notified. We will review the photographic evidence and make a final decision. Our decision is final.

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We will never sell your data. Ever.

What We Collect

Name and contact details — when you submit a listing, booking request, or message
Address information — delivery and pickup addresses for logistics purposes only
Payment information — processed securely through Stripe. Fairies never sees or stores your card details
Photos of clothing items — submitted by Lenders for listing purposes

To process and fulfil your rental booking or listing

What We Never Do

Sell your personal data to third parties
Share your address with anyone other than those directly involved in your rental
Send you unsolicited marketing without your consent
Store your payment card details

Your Rights

Cookies

This website does not use tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking software. The only external services we use are Stripe (payments) and Formspree (form submissions), both of which have their own privacy policies.
